The Man of the Moment

Sid was a force of nature who personified the art of living in and experiencing the moment.

He valued the magic of small moments and understood their presence in a way very few do. Those who experienced these moments with him felt like they were the only people in the universe. Moments with Sid felt “timeless,” yet “for this time only.” He made those moments; without him, they wouldn’t have been the same.

Love, laughter, style, wit, warmth, intelligence, and charm were few of the many things Sid brought to a moment. Most importantly, he brought joy to all of us around him in that time we shared together.

Sid was a gifted techno geek – creating and appreciating great design came to him easily and naturally. He adapted quickly to the changing environments around him as we moved around the world. He developed a great love for music, art, and culture through this experience. He left home at the tender age of 16 to finish high school. He attended premier institutions like the United World College and Georgetown University and excelled in academics.

Sid was always aware of his privilege and what it helped him do. That said, he never took it for granted. He always acknowledged and was very grateful for all he had – a good education, a stable and close-knit family, and a worldly upbringing. He developed a worldview and respect for people from all walks of life, all over the world. He never stopped telling us how thankful he was for having Archana and me as parents and how he was grateful for how we had set him up for success.

Not one to “travel down the beaten path,” he dreamt big, thought clearly, and was a trailblazer who pursued his vision for what he wanted to create and how he wanted to change the world. Sid’s business venture, Aura Digital, which he started as a Junior in college, was about experiencing moments to their fullest. It was about being able to capture a moment and not missing out on an experience because of mundane distractions like taking pictures or videos. Instead, it harnessed technology to create an art rendition of that moment that could be stored and revisited later on. Aura intersected the worlds of digital art and blockchain technology, exemplifying  Sid’s drive for disruptive innovation.

The venture was anchored around Maya Angelou’s famo
us quote:
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take; but the moments that take our breath away.”

Sid’s short time on this planet was filled with breathtaking moments in a series of infinite moments. In his 24 years, Sid accomplished more than most would do in an entire lifetime. He was determined and ambitious. With each of his achievements, he made us proud.

A bright flame extinguished only too soon, his departure leaves an unfillable void, not only for us as a family but for communities around the world. One moment changed several lives forever.

Our moments with him have shaped our lives forever.
