Genuinely couldn’t have had a better time with these two. First time take the board shots and remember their apartment on P St. (my cousins old place lol) always had the coolest little gadget and anecdotes from their trips to Greece (old menu) to cowboy hats. Some of my greatest bonding moments with the three roommates during GDT meetings sophomore year.
2022, DC, 202 Dinner Series
The fun I had with Sid this night ended up in 100 different side quests half of which I don’t remember. It all started with Tara hosting at her house on 35th St. and us playing the only actually fun game of pizza box ever played. We got tipsy and started blasting Badtameez Dil and Mundian to Bach Ke until we had no voice.
2014, Hugh Jackman
In 2014 Sid had the opportunity to meet Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) with one friend, and he chose me, thank god, still stoked to this day. We were so lucky, we both made it our facebook profile pictures, a big deal back then. Meeting Hugh Jackman was awesome, we kept talking about it for days after, plus everyone at school was talking about it, a big win. I’m still grateful Sid chose me to go, being friends with him met having hilarious and amazing experiences, this included. (See Hugh Jackman Photo)

Sid and my sister, Athina were very close. I lived with her my senior year at Georgetown and they instantly became friends. That day, my sister who is a lawyer had helped Sid review some contracts for his company, Aura. To thank her, Sid took my sister and I out to lunch. I captured this picture on our way back.
2022, February, Sid gets US citizenship
This is the card I gave Sid at the dinner we planned with our friends to celebrate his American citizenship. We went to the most American restaurant we could find (literally 2’ walk from the White House) and celebrated Sid’s new chapter with food and great stories.

Our senior year at Georgetown we all went to a Polo match at the Polo Congressional Club in DC. It was a beautiful day and everyone was dancing in the sun. Grant rented a party bus for us. One of the best days at Georgetown.

Sid was an amazing cook. I remember all the meals he cooked as the best food I’ve ever had, but I don’t think it was his perfect cooking skills, but how much fun I had helping him and laughing with him while he prepared everything. We made an instagram account and called it “Silly Cooking” to show recipes to our close friends.

One Sunday afternoon Sid, Grant, Taymor and I decided to go to Felix in Soho for dinner around 7pm. I had a train to DC at 11:00pm that night. Needless to say the party began, Sid started dancing and singing with all of us and I missed my train. I’m glad I missed the train or I wouldn’t have seen Sid dance his heart out with our friends that night.

Sid was staying in New York temporarily the semester after he graduated from Georgetown. It was a very stylish downtown apartment owned by a French person. We used to go there to work but also gather. This photo was right after I landed in New York from Tulum. I met a random shaman in Tulum who gave me the equipment for some meditation and energy cleanse activities, which I brought to Sid and Asger directly from the airport. I was not the best meditation guide, but they were surprisingly collaborative.

2012, summer, music performance

A few weeks prior, we are in music class, and are told to form groups for our final project: an unconventional performance, using anything but a regular instrument. A great opportunity to apply what we have learnt in the semester. To challenge us and push us beyond the limits of our musical genius. At least, that’s what the overzealous teacher thinks. Instead, all four of us look at each other with something else in mind. Of course it’ll be the four of us. Not because of our musical prowess, but because we’re always together, and more interested in having fun than in demonstrating our rhythm. And that’s pretty much how I would describe my friendship with Sid. The way 13 year old boys should be. Mischievous, always looking for fun, without a care in the world of the “more important” things. So for the few weeks that this project lasted, we sat in the practice rooms chatting, playing video games, watching tv shows. Of course, two weeks down the line, we would be hurrying to put something together for the performance. But anything would be fine, after having had the chance to spend even more moments together. In the picture you can probably tell that none of us have a clue of what we are doing.

I remember waking up at your house one morning, after one of countless sleepovers we had, and walking down to have breakfast. On this particular occasion your grandparents had come to visit you guys in Beijing, and I had the pleasure of sharing breakfast with all of you. Indian breakfast. I can still see your face, totally red from laughing at me. I was struggling with the level of spice. “No Sancho, it’s not so spicy don’t worry”, was the description your grandma gave me. Of course, your contagious laugh made me laugh as well, and as I struggled to breathe, fighting the spice and the laughing, it all just became funnier still.
Thank you Sid, for all the wonderful childhood memories. For all the careless laughs. Thinking about those times we spent together brings back a breath of fresh air, of innocence. I will miss you more than I even imagined. But your memory will live on in me, as my story cannot be told without you. Love you man.

I invited Sid, Leena, and Lea, three of my closest friends, to have dinner with my parents at Kafe Leopold in Georgetown. This was such a special moment for me, and I distinctly remember Sid asking my father specific questions about the history of art and architecture in Afghanistan.

Sid invites me to drinks and dinner at Fanelli’s in NYC with Grant & Asger, and the night turns into a little bar crawl around the lower east side. We end up at a swanky bar, and Sid starts waving to someone through the window. My friend Jana bursts in and greets Sid with a big hug, and we laugh at how small or a city New York is.
